You know your student is capable — but homework battles, missed deadlines, and last-minute panic keep happening.

Coaching gives your student the accountability and structure they need, so you can step back into the role of parent instead of constant homework enforcer.

How Coaching Supports Your Student

Executive function coaching helps students build awareness and the tools they need to manage school more independently. We work on understanding how your student thinks, then build systems and strategies to fit.

The goal is never just getting through this week. It's building skills your student will carry with them long after our sessions end.

What to Expect in a Session

Check-In
We start by getting a quick picture of how things have been going. What felt manageable last week? What felt harder than expected? Where did things get stuck? This helps us understand patterns and decide what would be most helpful to focus on today.

Focused Work Time
We begin by identifying a clear goal for the session. From there, we work through the challenges in real time. This might look like:

  • breaking down a large assignment into manageable steps

  • building strategies for getting started when tasks feel overwhelming

  • creating systems for organization or planning

  • drafting messages or emails to teachers

  • troubleshooting what got in the way of follow-through

Each session is practical, flexible, and centered on building skills your student can use outside of the session.

Wrap-Up
We end by identifying one or two simple next steps for the week. These are small, realistic actions designed to build momentum—not overwhelm. The goal is to leave the session with clarity, confidence, and a plan for the week ahead.

Family Team Meetings

We begin with an initial family team meeting to get a clear picture of your student’s needs and define a focused starting goal. Then, after every fourth session, we reconnect for a brief family meeting to share progress, gather feedback, and adjust our approach as needed. This helps ensure we’re aligned and that the support continues to fit your student as they grow.

Skills We Build Together

Coaching is individualized based on each student’s needs, but common focus areas include:

Planning & Prioritizing — Breaking down overwhelming assignments and long-term

   projects into clear, manageable steps.

Organization — Creating simple, sustainable systems for school materials, digital files, and

   daily workflows.

Time Management & Task Initiation — Building awareness of how long tasks actually take

and developing strategies to start without procrastination.

Follow-Through & Completion — Strengthening routines to finish and submit work on time.

Goal Setting & Self-Monitoring — Learning how to track progress, reflect, and adjust when

   something isn’t working.

Self-Advocacy — Communicating needs with teachers, professors, and support staff.
